Roanoke Times anti-FairTax editorial stirs controversy.

A Roanoke Times editorial, written by Christian Trejbal, about the Goodlatte-Rasoul Congressional campaign has created quite a stir. Goodlatte has filed a bill in Congress (H.R. 510) to abolish the income tax although he takes no position on what should replace it.  In the editorial, it was incorrectly stated that he preferred the FairTax that Trejbal described as follows: “It’s a national sales tax trendy among extreme Libertarians who refuse to recognize its fundamental flaws.  It wouldn’t work, but at least it’s a starting point for discussions.”  Read the whole editorial.  Trejbal has been a steady opponent of the FairTax since at least 2006.

Indeed, there is a discussion with so many comments that a dedicated blog site has been opened.  If you’re not a trendy, extreme Libertarian you might want to add your comments.  I’m not, and I did (see #34 & #37).
