Contact information for VA Districts 5, 6, and 9.

At a meeting to reorganize Roanoke Area FairTax, it was decided that we would make an effort to provide support for FairTax believers beyond the immediate area.  Roanoke, Virginia is at the junction of three U.S. Congressional Districts (VA-05, -06, and –09).  The way to passage of the FairTax in the U.S. House of Representatives, from our perspective, requires the support of the representatives involved: Robert Hurt (05), Bob Goodlatte (06), and Morgan Griffith (09). As far as we can tell, there is very little organized support in much of the geography represented by these districts and we intend to provide it.

Leo Linbeck, Co-Founder and Chairman of Americans for Fair Taxation, developer of the FairTax proposal, has posted the following comments:

“The stars have finally aligned for fundamental tax reform with likely support from both Democrats and Republicans. But without us that reform will protect tax lobbyists, the corruption of the tax code and the truly foolish idea of taxing what goes into our economy – earnings, savings and investment.”

“But will Washington finally embrace the elegant simplicity and strength of the FairTax?

No, not without a powerful program of citizen pressure, education and activism.

That’s our job and why we need your help.”

(See the whole post here.)

We have provided posts on this website to help residents of each of our three districts.  Residents of VA-05 (Robert Hurt) will find the information here.  Residents of VA-06 (Bob Goodlatte) will find it here.  And, VA-09 (Morgan Griffith) information is here. (I apologize for the seemingly disconnected tab headings; we’ll get that right when we find a new Webmaster.)

Use the information in these posts to contact your legislator and urge that he co-sponsor the FairTax.  Use it also to convince others of the wisdom and necessity of supporting it.

Do it now and do it often using the information providedSpread the word!

The FairTax Chance Has Arrived: President Signals Change!

A letter to all FairTax supporters from Leo Linbeck, Co-Founder and Chairman of Americans for Fair Taxation:

The State of the Union speech included an issue dear to our hearts – real and dramatic tax reform.

Even President Obama finally acknowledged what everyone knows – the tax code is a destructive mess and it’s hurting the country.

“…so tonight, I’m asking Democrats and Republicans to simplify the system. Get rid of the loopholes. Level the playing field. And use the savings to lower the corporate tax rate for the first time in 25 years — without adding to our deficit. It can be done.” – President Barack Obama

But will Washington finally embrace the elegant simplicity and strength of the FairTax?

No, not without a powerful program of citizen pressure, education and activism.

That’s our job and why we need your help.

The stars have finally aligned for fundamental tax reform with likely support from both Democrats and Republicans. But without us that reform will protect tax lobbyists, the corruption of the tax code and the truly foolish idea of taxing what goes into our economy – earnings, savings and investment.

It’s deja vue all over again as Yogi Berra once said – with Washington unwilling to stop repeating the mistakes of yesterday.

Help us change the debate. Tax hearings are coming up and we’ll be there – but that’s not enough. We need to rally more people to our cause and we need to be on television, radio, the web and in newspapers.

Please CLICK HERE to donate generously to this timely campaign.

Our goal is to raise at least a million dollars immediately to turn the tide in our favor. We must pack the hearing rooms with FairTax hats, get our message out to every American and seize this moment for the FairTax.

Fortune favors the prepared and we’re asking you to help get us ready. Will you be a part of the FairTax solution? Click HERE to lend a hand.

Thank you,

Leo Linbeck Jr., Co-Founder and Chairman

Support Roanoke Area FairTax

Roanoke Area FairTax is a non-profit organization and, because of that, we rely on people like you to make things happen. There are several ways you can support RAFT, most importantly through donations but also through volunteer work and simply through supporting the FairTax.

RAFT relies on donations from supporters to provide for education supplies, outreach supplies, promotion costs, and this website. We can reach more supporters and educate more uninformed people if you donate even a little. We accept donations through PayPal, one of the most secure, most trusted payment acceptors available on the internet today. We appreciate each and every dollar.  Unfortunately, donations to RAFT are not deductible for income tax purposes.

If you can’t help out monetarily, then your hard work and time will be more than appreciated as well. RAFT is always organizing, reaching out, and trying to connect to more and more people. You can tell your family, tell your friends and tell your neighbors. Urge them to take a look at this website. You can participate in RAFT meetings and help us at community events. If you want to help, just This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Last, but definitely not least, you can support Roanoke Area FairTax by doing no more than just supporting the FairTax. Call your congressman, write letters to the editor, or get a bumper sticker. Tell the person in the waiting room, tell your doctor, tell anybody and everybody about the FairTax.

Roanoke Area FairTax appreciates everything you do. The only way the FairTax is going to happen is if we make it happen – by the people, for the people. Spread the word!
