District Director AMFT

An article in Sunday’s paper was an eye opener of gigantic proportions..On page 10 was a picture of  at least 15 boxes of amendments
 to HR 3200, known as the health care bill.
 What is “buried” in these  legal documents that only lawyers can understand?    Some of the wording is almost laughable if it weren’t so
binding!!   ie a “power driven wheelchair” will be called “a complex rehabilitative power driven wheelchair”!!  I’m sure this language goes on and on throughout the bill!
Do the American people actually believe that there will not have to be enormous sacrifices to ensure that a tiny fraction of our population
 has health care?.   .Or that the only thing in this bill is that everyone will be covered, you can choose your provider, and you can opt out of the
public plan if you want..
They have never fully explained how they are going to pay for it, other than taxing the wealthy, who are just about “taxed out!”
The tax on small business will force some to close down and others to lay off workers in order to comply with the extra cost of mandated health care.
Where are the physicians coming from to care for an additional 47 million patients!! They’re certainly not in the pipeline right now..
This bill by its very nature will lead to rationing of health care.   .
Health care reform is needed, but not this bill and not this way.
I would propose .A bill that lowers the cost of premiums, has a wellness clause,
( if you stay healthy your premiums are lower) puts a cap on medical malpractice suits  and  allows a medical savings
account with an income tax deduction for deposits(much like an IRA or Roth )   makes so much more sense to me.  It would probably take  about
50 pages to write!!  (But only if someone other that a congressman or senator were writing it.)
 If FAIRTAX reform were implemented we wouldn’t be having this problem to begin with. The increased taxpayer base would provide
more than enough revenue to fund Medicaid
 and Medicare.
