Starting Oct 21,  Roanoke Area FAIRTAX is going to  run ads on WFIR during Boortz and Hannity,
announcing our Tuesday, Oct 27th meeting (7:00pm) at WDBJ 7 TV station on Hershberger Rd..
We're also running an ad in the Salem Times Register for the same purpose.
Their readership is 79,000.
In addition to viewing (hopefully) the new FAIRTAX video..we will  handout comparison charts of OBAMA's tax plan vs FAIRTAX tax plan..
Also,Lists of those Congressmen and Senators who are with us and those whom we have yet to convince
One of the important things to discuss is the Senate Finance Committee
and its members..There are only two members on that committee who are
for the FAIRTAX.  We must continually contact those who aren't.  We'll have contact information..
 The Finance committee's Jurisdiction covers multiple sub committees that deal with key points of the FAIRTAX ie..IRS..Medicare, Agriculture, International Trade, etc.
The Web is a great place to gather names  and lists,but I believe you can generate more enthusiasm with face to face communication.
This is something we've talked about and never acted on..We certainly are not generating enthusiasm with email, and although we have a great web page and webmaster,it doesn't seem to be bringing people to meetings. We need to get people actively involved in contacting Legislators.

There is an email going around to FairTaxers all over the country. It is urging folks to go take a look at www.usdebtclock.org

The email usually says “I urge you to go to www.usdebtclock.org. This is a site every American, FairTaxer or otherwise, Democrat, Republican or Non-Affiliated, should see. The numbers are truly shocking, and this display helps put them in perspective…. …. The FairTax isn’t strictly about the national debt (and the national unfunded liability), but it goes a long way towards addressing the problem. The FairTax grows personal savings and investment, equalizes the balance of trade, grows the economy, and makes federal spending transparent to the consumer. Please take time to visit this site.”

Show Your Support For The FairTax At The Next Smith Mountain Lake Tea Party

Come out to the Next Tea Party at Smith Mountain Lake and bring your FairTax signs! Go and talk to the people there about the FairTax. They are fed up with the current tax system and some of them don’t know about the FairTax. Please go to this Tea Party and talk to the folks there and get their support for the FairTax.

Remember to bring your FairTax signs! We would like to have as many FairTax signs in the crowd as possible!

Inexpensive way to promote the Fairtax in Washington, DC on 9-12-09!

Many people have indicated an interest in going to Washington, DC on 9-12-09 to demonstrate in favor of the FairTax that day.

The Franklin County Patriots (Tea Party group in Franklin County) is organizing a bus trip to take part in the National Tea Party March on Washington. They currently have two buses going. One is full and the other is half full. The cost is only $35 for a round trip from Franklin County, VA to Washington, DC and back. They must pay for the bus by the 24th so you had better act fast! The bus(es) will be leaving Rocky Mount, VA at 6AM and plan to be in Washington by 10 AM to take part in the 9-12 march. We want as many FairTax signs there as possible! The 9-12 March On Washington is a protest to ”

Our message is that governments at all levels have been spending way too much money. The federal government is especially guilty of this, as they pile up the debt, deficits and unfunded liabilities. They are taxing, borrowing or printing money with no end in sight. This madness has to stop, and that is why we are demanding that they stop the wasteful spending and stop burdening taxpayers with more debt.” These people are already tax protesters don’t you want more of them to know about the FairTax!

BTW: I think these folks, from Franklin County, support the FairTax – If you look at the top of the left column on their website. You will find a FairTax link and a FairTax Logo!

There is a second group organizing buses leaving from Staunton. The cost is the same. This may work better for those folks who live on the North side of Roanoke.

Jackie Bledsoe Speaks to the Roanoke Valley Libertarians

On Monday August 3rd Jackie Bledsoe, Roanoke Area FairTax District Director, made a presentation to the Roanoke Valley Libertarians (RVLP) at their August Meeting. She gave a short talk and outlined several of the key points of the FairTax. She also showed a short video about the FairTax. The meeting had RVLPs regular members with special guests that included: Liz Bowles (Botetourt County LP Chair), Jeff Bowles (Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Virginia), and Dr. James Lark (Member of the Libertarian National Committee).

The presentation was very well received & Mrs. Bledsoe was infromed that the RVLP had just last month voted to support the FairTax and Roanoke Area FairTax group!

FairTax Protest on 9/11/09 in Washington, D.C.

FairTaxNation.com has organized a protest for September the eleventh of this year on the day before the National March on Washington organized by the 9/12 project.

The Plan is to:

Meet with other FairTax supporters at the Pentagon Memorial at 9AM
Everyone go as a group to the METRO at 10 AM
Take the METRO to the “Federal Triangle Metro Stop”
Meet at the IRS Building at 10:30 to 11:00 for a peaceful demonstration in front of the building.
We will get a head count at the IRS building.
At 11:45 we will walk towards the capitol area.
Gather to enter the congressional office buildings en masse.
Go straight to targeted congressional offices.
Don’t forget your signs and banners!
