Tax Day, April 15th is a great opportunity to spread the word to people whose minds are firmly focused on the unpleasantness of filing income taxes. And this year there is the additional opportunity of a national grassroots Tea Party movement. Roanoke Area FairTax is combining both at Roanoke’s main Post Office on Rutherford Ave. across from the Civic Center.
Roanoke Area FairTax needs your input! We are coming up on the most intense tax-based activity of the year and need your good ideas about how to get the FairTax message out during this time. We have a couple of Tea Party activities already scheduled and invite your participation in them, as well as your suggestions for expanding them or arranging new ones.
Saturday (3/14) is Roanoke’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, a time for family and fun. Roanoke Area FairTax will be there again this year but with a new twist: an invitation to party.
The parties will begin tomorrow across the U.S. Go to a location near you and participate in letting our legislators know where you stand. Push the FairTax as the alternative to the current way to fund the government.

A ‘Tea Party’ is being organized in the SML area and is scheduled to be held near the Grand Furniture Store in Westlake, VA on Tuesday, April 14th, between 2:30 and 4:00 pm.
Robert L. Matzuga found a way to speak to Congressman Tom Perriello about the FairTax and sent me his report. Robert’s example is one that every one of can follow in our own Districts.
The Roanoke Times published Ricky Parker’s letter that explains how the FairTax would be a better way to stimulate the economy.

Americans for Fair Taxation’s Communications Director has written to FairTax supporters urging us to keep spreading the word. After pointing out how elected officials and candidates are not doing their jobs to solve problems, he gives examples of good news regarding the FairTax.

Roanoke Area FairTax will begin its 2008-9 monthly meetings with a special program, “The FairTax Story.”
Roanoke Area FairTax will resume its monthly meetings on November 6th. This meeting will be devoted to training people who would like to speak to groups about the FairTax.
